Review of DK Publishing Travel Guide to The Netherlands. I really appreciate being able to learn from this small book about the beautiful, modern nation that I'm hoping to visit in the not too distant future. A beloved friend of mine lives there and I'm hoping to soon be able to go with her and explore at least even a small bit of this marvelous country.
By FAR the most visually sensational guidebook of the Netherlands it has ever been my privilege to gaze upon (and I ordered and compare it to the versions by the Lonely Planet, The Rough Guide and Insight Guide)!
We always buy one of this series before going to Europe--for the pictures. This one has a really neat illustrated map of a walking route to see various Amsterdam buildings. I'll see whether that works.
Had a wonderful time visiting Holland at tulip time. Book was helpful, but the print is so small!
This is an excellent, deep travel guide. I just returned from a two week trip in the Holland part of the Netherlands, and found the guide essential. It is accurate and accurate, providing routes, history, suggestions and everything else for a great trip.
Great guide-- I really prefer the DK Eyewitness guides; great color illustrations, great advice. The only thing I don't like as much as Rick Steves' guides is the frankness found in Rick Steves.
As with all DK books I have used, this one proved again the excellence of the travel book series. The information provided by the book allowed for a very informed visit through the Netherlands a few months ago. The information on points of interest, culture, shopping, especially museums proved very helpful in planing and taking advantage of available time. Also, the graphics were superb and played a significant role in helping to get a good sense of a site before a visit.I highly recommend this book to a prospective traveler to the Netherlands.
I just love these guides, and this one is no exception. It's a fantastic overview of the country with just enough details to give you a feel for what you might want to do.
